Abstract
![CDATA[Much literature has documented the difficulties learners have in understanding the Earth as a complex system, with preconceptions often developing early in childhood. Many does not understand Earth as a dynamic system: some believe in supernatural forces of natural disasters, and others do not imagine that the environment they live in is constantly changing or may drastically change due to such disasters. Recognizing the importance in understanding the Earth system and systems thinking in our lives, there is growing interest in Earth science as an important discipline for school education. Anchoring in the design-based research, this paper describes how university researchers and educators collaborate with adolescent learners in designing 3D gaming environment (known as the Voyage to the Age of Dinosaurs) using informant design approach. The paper also discusses the merits of such an approach in bringing out learners’ voices for game design.]]
