Abstract
The book provides the foundation by which the theories of relativity and quantum mechanics can come together in a general quantum theory. Modern scientific theory cannot explain a range of important cosmological observations. In total there are seven great mysteries of the Universe which baffle modern science. They are unravelled in this book without inventing dark matter, dark energy or extra dimensions. We begin with a new postulate that the dimensions of time and space are produced by spacetime-particles (i.e. gravitons) which carry packets of energy. This mechanism is explained in Chapter 2. The book explains how the role of the graviton has been misinterpreted and we provide the interpretation which allows us to unravel the great mysteries of the Universe. In Chapter 3 Young’s two-slit interference experiment is successfully explained. In Chapter 4 relativity in flat spacetime is examined. By using gravitons as carriers of energy, we obtain Einstein’s equations for time dilation and length contraction of moving bodies. In Chapter 5 gravitons are used to explain important principles of gravity, including the Equivalence principle and inverse square law. Newton’s gravitational constant, G, is shown to be composed of four components: Planck’s constant, the speed of light, frequency of gravitons and wave number of gravitons. From the analysis, we can predict the frequency of gravitons. In Chapter 6 the reader will see that there is a new way to explain observations which have been previously attributed to Dark Matter. Scattering of gravitons and interference patterns in spacetime are predicted because of the quantum nature of gravitons. Rotation curves of galaxies are used to estimate that the frequency of gravitons is within the range that is predicted. Interference patterns in spacetime result in long-range gravitational effects within galaxies and between clusters of galaxies. The reader will see that the cosmological model needs to be reconsidered because we show that dark matter is superfluous and dark energy can be explained in terms of the energy-momentum density of spacetime as provided by gravitons.
