Using puppets in the marketing classroom to achieve a 'flow' experience and student engagement

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference Paper › Conference Paper › peer-review

Abstract

Whilst a considerable body of literature exists on 'flow'-a psychological state whereby people are happily immersed in activity-limited research has been done on the connection between flow and three dimensions of student engagement-cognitive, affective and behavioural. This conceptual paper surveys relevant literature on flow, student engagement and puppetry and proposes a research study whereby pet rock puppets will be introduced into a brand management unit as a means of stimulating both flow and student engagement. The results of the proposed study and measurement of flow and engagement have implication for marketing educators seeking to heighten student learning and make learning enjoyable.
