Abstract
![CDATA[Within the global crisis that we are now experiencing, it is inevitable that nurses will have to work with many vulnerable people. It is likely that these people will be confronted with problems in their private and public lives as well as their health and well-being. As health professionals, nurses need to find evidence they can apply in their work. One source of the evidence must be from research and it must be a research approach that will allow nurses to work closely with people. However, the task of undertaking research with the 'vulnerable' presents researchers with unique opportunities and yet dilemmas. In this chapter I shall bring together salient issues for the conduct of research with vulnerable groups.]]
