Abstract
There is as yet no book-length account of art therapy in Australia, and moreover, as the expatriate Australian art therapist, Susan Hogan (2001) points out, professional histories often reflect and justify the status quo of their profession. We acknowledge that different stories of Australian art therapy may emerge in the future - ones that recognise diverse cultural practices that are not necessarily captured by conventional definitions (Westwood & Linnell, 20 II) or represented within this brief paper.
