Abstract
A Best Management Practices (BMPs) sub-model is incorporated into a continuous version of the Illinois Urban Drainage Area Simulator (ILLUDAS). The model generates pollutographs for three water quality parameters namely, suspended solids, settleable solids, and BOD. Box's complex algorithm is used to find the optimal locations and sizes of the detention devices. Effects of detention ponds and infiltration trenches on water quality parameters can be examined. The model has been applied to a watershed in northern Virginia.
