    ![CDATA[The last thirty to forty years have seen unprecedented levels of global change associated primarily with migration and the movements of people. These changes have not only dramatically reconfigured the relations between nation-states, leading to an increasingly transnational system of interconnection and exchange, but have also radically transformed the societies within their borders. Although migration has a long history in most Western countries, the pressures caused by these more recent social and cultural processes of globalisation have led to intense debates around questions of culture, identity and citizenship.]]
