Abstract

The Indonesian medicine formulary has recently been revised and will be implemented in April 2020. Nifedipine will no longer be available in public primary care service (Puskesmas) according to the new formulary. This change will severely impact on the management of pregnancy hypertension in Indonesian primary care, given that very limited treatment options are currently available. Mortality caused by pregnancy hypertension in Indonesia continous to be unacceptably high. The decision to remove nifedipine from use in Indonesian public primary health must be urgently revisited.
