Abstract
People with complex communication needs may benefit from the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems. In order to be effective, these systems must contain words and messages that will support the user’s communication. In this article, we discuss some issues that speech pathologists might consider when selecting vocabulary for people who use AAC.
