Why health professional attitudes matter in eating disorder recovery—and how we can improve

Research output: Other contribution

Abstract

For individuals with eating disorders, seeking help should be a path to healing, not another barrier. However, as our systematic review, “Perceived clinician stigma and its impact on eating disorder treatment experiences (Lubieniecki et al., 2024),” suggests, stigma from healthcare professionals – whether intentional or not – can disrupt recovery, creating feelings of dismissal, misjudgement, and even shame.
