Abstract

This paper is aimed at reporting the wind power potential in Pakistan. The wind speed data for 17 stations have been analyzed. Seasonal variations of wind speed and annual mean power and energy densities are given. It has been found that southern and south-western regions have more wind power potential as compared to central and northern regions. These regions are also more suited for utilization of this renewable energy source due to scattered and little population. The existing isolated diesel electric stations can be easily replaced by wind electric conversion systems.
