Abstract

This paper is aimed at reporting the characteristics and distribution of wind over a wide area of Libya. Statistical methods are employed to model the wind distribution, and Rayleigh distribution has been found to have a good fit. The annual mean wind power and energy densities are given for 18 sites. The seasonal and diurnal variations are given.
