Abstract
The characteristics and distribution of wind over a wide area of Libya are reported. Statistical methods are employed to model the wind distribution and the Rayleigh distribution was found to give a good fit to the data. The annual mean wind power and energy densities are given for 18 sites. Seasonal and diurnal variations are also recorded. (from authors' abstract)
