Workers and trade unions in the USA

The summer issue 2016 of the acclaimed radical journal “Jacobin” was dedicated to “rank and file” discussing what German revolutionary and friend of Karl Marx—Friedrich Engels—might have called “The Condition of the Working Class in the USA.”1 This review reports on the discussions on U.S.-American workers, their class and their trade unions. Jacobin’s seven chapters are divided into two core parts. Part one discusses “how labor lost” while part two analyses “how labor can win.”
