Abstract

The role of social work in relation to asylum seekers and refugees is complex and subject to policy change. Social workers in this field of practice can adopt effective strategies whether they are working within or across micro, mesa or macro levels. Many aspects of asylum seeker policies in both Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand are antithetical to social work ethics and core values. Both integration and human rights frameworks can advance social work practice.
