Direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) was investigated for its performance abilities and capability to concentrate aqueous solutions with high solid contents at low temperatures. The process was envisaged for applications when concentration of thermally sensitive liquid foods to high final concentrations with minimal thermal damage to the products is required.
