Dr. Youqing Fan is an Associate Professor and a Chief Investigator of an ARC Linkage Project on how volunteering can be better managed to become more accessible to CaLD elderly in Australia ($331,000) and a School funded PRI project ($75,000).

He currently is the Associate Editor for the OBHRM track of Journal of Business Research (ABDC A) and Employee Relations (ABDC A). He also served as an Associate Editor for the HRM section of Australian Journal of Management (ABDC A). He is the AOM HR Division Ambassador for Australia and the Board Member for East Asian Social Policy Network. He is the recipient of the 2023 School Citation for Research Award. He initiated and chairs the Asia-Pacific HR Dialogue Series, an online scholarly interaction platform for HRM scholars. 

His research and teaching focuses on the interaction of organizational management and sustainability, with a specific interest in understanding how managers incorporate the environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainability goals into their organizational management practices at the workplace and along the supply chain. 

Dr Fan has contributed significantly to the fields of sustainability and business management. He has published over 40 journal papers in ABDC ranked journals, including 3 A* and 30 A ranked journals such as the Human Resource Management Review, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, Business Strategy and the Environment, Personnel Review, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources, Emerging Markets Review, International Review of Finance and Economics and Journal of Accounting Literature, Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review, Transport Policy, Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Corporate Social Responsibility & Environmental Management, Land Use Policy and Habitat International etc. He has published two edited books.

He is also a regular reviewer for Journal of Management, Journal of International Business Studies, Long Range Planning, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Academy of Management Annual Conference, Information and Management etc.

Dr Fan's research findings have generated social impacts beyond academia. His viewpoints appear in independent academic media such as TheConversation.com and The Fifth Estate, and mainstream media outlets such as ABC News, Sydney Morning Herald etc.

Dr Fan has successfully led a School funded Priority Research Initiative Project to completion. The project examines urban employment and housing segregation. Dr Fan has also been involved in international collaborative projects investigating the poverty reduction and migrant health inequalities in the global south. 

Dr Fan has successfully supervised 4 PhD students to completion. As of August 2026, He has published 6 journal papers with PhD students. He warmly welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD students who work on below topics:
